DELHI: The National Geographic Channel, in collaboration with the British Council,
has launched a week of special programmes to celebrate Earth Day till 22 April.
As part
of the channels Preserve Our Planet movement, the Nat
Geos Eco Week will include a Green Film Festival and will conclude
with a Green Fashion Show. National
Geographic Channel South East Asia managing director Nikhil Mirchandani told indiantelevision.com
on the sidelines of a press meet that the week will begin with a photography exhibition,
which will be a compilation of the channels images highlighting climate
change. Speaking
about the channel's aim, Mirchandani said that it was not merely to have a week-long
observation but also to follow it up with concrete programmes. As an example,
he said that the channel had launched a Go Green campaign in Bangalore. The
film festival will show some award-winning National Geographic films on global
warming. These include Electric Water Taxi, Earth Report: State of our Planet,
Human Footprint and Six Degreesover two days. The other films are Seed
Hunter; Strange Days On Planet Earth: Oceans - Dangerous Catch; Strange Days On
Planet; Earth: Oceans - Dirty Secrets; and Extreme Ice. |
