| MUMBAI:
After snapping up Channel 8, Sony is ready to dress up the Bengali movie channel
with live cricket telecast from the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in the
vernacular language to tap audiences of that market. Channel
8 will show the 14 Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) matches, the semi-finals and the
final. The entire IPL tournament will be shown only on Max channel and in two
languages - English and Hindi. "For
the cable operators in the north, we will have the Hindi audio feed. The English
audio feed will be for the other parts of the country. We are showing the KKR
matches, the semis and the final on Channel 8 in Bengali," says Max business
head Sneha Rajani. Channel
8 will, thus, get a boost in cricket frenzy Bengal. The second edition of the
IPL, which will have 59 matches, kicks off on 18 April and concludes on 24 May.
It is being played in South Africa over eight venues. |
