MUMBAI: The Indian Cricket League (ICL) has announced its plan to launch ICL season 3 with its ‘October-November 2009’ Winter edition of the ICL 20s Indian Championship, preceded by the ICL 20-20 Domestic Tournament and conditioning camp for its players.

The off-season period will see the ICL Executive Board conducting a detailed “Sports-Performance” evaluation process in regard of its talent pool, player performance and activating its talent-scout initiatives.

Speaking on the development Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra says, “ICL has emerged as a true global sports brand. We have successfully conducted seven tournaments through our pioneering league. Every edition has seen new innovations, additional sports facilities and a larger talent base to entertain the sports consumer and ICL Season-3 will be no different. We are utilising the off-season period to further enhance the features of the sports product, to deliver a more vibrant and entertaining brand of cricket for the sports fans of the country. We are hopeful to receive official recognition at the ICC Executive Board meeting scheduled for April 17th & 18th in Dubai ; failing which we will pursue legal options.”

ICL Executive Board chairman Kapil Dev said, “We are extremely happy to inform the cricket fraternity that ICL will return with a bang with its 3rd & 4th editions – ICL 20-20 Domestic Tournament & ICL 20s Indian Championship – on schedule, from October 2009 onwards. The ICL Executive Board under my leadership has been given a mandate to carry out a detailed “Performance Evaluation” process, where we would minutely analyze our sports product and come up with new innovations, better player pool, to take the league to the next level.”
