Broadening its movie syndication pipeline, UTV has signed separate deals with
Star India and B4U Television Network. In
its largest bulk deal ever, UTV will make available 54 of its titles to B4U Network
for their international beams only. UTVs recent releases including Oye
Lucky Lucky Oye and Dev D will fall under this pact. Star
will get 23 titles including Jodhaa Akbar, Race, Kismat Konnection,
Fashion and Welcome to Sajjanpur. Says
UTV Motion Pictures VP international distribution and syndication Amrita Pandey,
We are glad to announce this satellite syndication deal with both Star TV
and B4U networks for a selection of films from the UTV library. UTV has had a
dream run in 2008 with all our releases performing exceptionally well at the box
office and with this and other syndication deals we hope to increase the audience
for these movies across India and around the world. As
reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, UTV signed similar syndication deals
with Colors (27 movies), Zee TV (21 movies) and NDTV Imagine (three movies). Says
Star India SVP Sameer Rao, We are pleased to be entering into a licensing
arrangement with UTV for their titles. We believe that the UTV lot, with its mix
of blockbuster and niche titles and variety of genres, is a very good offering
for our audiences. Recently,
Star had got 60 Sahara One Media & Entertainment Ltd movies for a period of
one year. B4U,
which has ventured into film distribution and plans to step into film production
business, has continued with the acquisition of film telecast rights for its channels
globally. Says
B4U Network Global CEO Sunil Rohra, "With the films being of different genres,
it underlines our commitment to B4U Movies viewers worldwide to provide them with
