MUMBAI:
Discovery Networks International has recently announced the
appointment of Darcy Tomlin as its Vice-President, programming
and business operations.
Tomlin
will report to Marieclaire Odel who is the broadcaster's senior
VP programming and marketing.
Odell
says, "With over 18 years in the industry, Tomlin brings
with her a wealth of experience in the international marketplace
and a keen understanding of audience needs and programming
trends."
In
this new role, Tomlin will serve as the primary liaison to
bring Discovery's content to its international portfolio of
networks, which includes flagship Discovery Channel, Animal
Planet and recently launched ID: Investigation Discovery.
Working
with programming teams throughout Europe, the Middle East,
Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Tomlin will oversee
editorial needs and ensure that Discovery's pipeline of award-winning
content reaches its global audience. In addition, she will
manage the operational side of the business, including financial
and scheduling systems.
Tomlin
joined Discovery in 1997 and has held various positions within
the company's Latin American division based in Miami. Most
recently, she served as director of programming in Discovery
Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo
and Discovery Civilisation.
She
was also responsible for developing the content and scheduling
strategy for Discovery Channel and overseeing the programming
team for the other networks. Her previous leadership positions
include Channel Director and Head of Programming for Discovery
Lifestyle Networks and Network Group Director for People +
Arts.
