MUMBAI: BBC has announced the appointment of Mark Kortekaas as its new controller for BBC Audio & Music (A&M) Interactive and BBC Mobile.

Reporting to BBC Future Media and Technology (FM&T) director Erik Huggers, Kortekaas will be responsible for the entire BBC output on mobile platforms and the multi-platform delivery of audio and music content.

In his 20-year career in digital multimedia, Kortekaas has held senior technology roles at NBC, Sony Online Entertainment, CBS and most recently, Project Kangaroo, where he was Chief Technology Officer.

Talking after Kortekaas's induction, Huggers said, "We plan to improve the BBC audio and music experience by creating a pan-industry online radio player, developing our radio network sites and further improve BBC's online's music pages. "Mobile is also a big part of our plans. The BBC iPlayer has made our content available to mobile and also on-demand through a wide range of devices."
