MUMBAI: Producer 20th Century Fox has halted the shooting for action-drama series 24 till 9 October. The producers have ordered the filmmakers to rethink the direction of the series and rewrite the script.

The work will be stopped after the completion of 18 episodes. The decision comes after executive producer Howard Gordon was not happy with the production.

This delay will not affect the launch of seventh season of 24 on Fox in January 2009.

The seventh season was initially postponed in the wake of the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike.

24 depicts a 24-hour period in the life of Jack Bauer, who works with the US government as it fights domestic threats. Bauer is often in the field for the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit as they try to safeguard the nation from terrorist threats.
