Hormusji Cama elected as INS president

NEW DELHI : Bombay Samachar director Hormusji N Cama has been selected as the president of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for 2008-2009.

Cama, who was INS president for 2006-07, replaces Gujarat Samachar chairman Bahubali Shah.

“This year our list of priority includes organising an international newspaper conference in January 2009. Also it is widely known that the increase in cost of newsprint has affected the newspaper industry. We would like to resolve the matter of rates that is offered by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP). We had asked for a 50 per cent increase in rates in a meeting with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting”, said Cama.

While Delhi Press editor Paresh Nath has been re-elected as deputy president, Deccan Chronicle chairman Venkatram Reddy will be holding the position of vice-president once again.

HT Media vice-president – operations north Rakesh Sharma remains as the treasurer.

The elections were held today in Bangalore.
