UTV World Movies to air special shows on Toronto Film Festival

MUMBAI: UTV World Movies has lined up special programmes weaved around the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival.

Under the "Terrific Toronto" initiative, the channel will air parties, international hits, and behind-the-scenes from the event beginning 4 September.

Three updates about the event, each of one minute, will be aired throughout the day.

Starting 13 September, a half-hour show will be telecast at 8 pm (Monday-Thursday). The show will feature red carpet events, interviews and gala parties at the event.

Beginning 4 September at 11 pm daily, the channel will also air a collection of movies screened in Toronto over the years. These titles include Iberia by Carlos Saura, Takeshis by Takeshi Kitano, The White Balloon by Jafar Panahi, The Spanish Woman by Steve Jacobs, to name a few.

UTV Entertainment Television COO Dilshad Master says, “In our endeavor to expose our viewers to the best of world cinema, we bring home to the Indian audience exclusive and comprehensive coverage from some of the world’s biggest and most glamorous film festivals. ‘Cannes Calling’ on UTV World Movies showcased coverage on the 61st edition of Cannes Film Festival this year. UTV World Movies is now bringing Terrific Toronto for the enjoyment of its viewers.”

Toronto International Film Festival will showcase 312 films from 64 countries.
