MUMBAI: As part
of CNN's international newsgathering expansion and content ownership strategy,
the network has announced the opening of its third editorial operation in Mumbai,
as well as the appointment of Mallika Kapur, currently a London-based reporter,
as the network's Mumbai-based international correspondent.
CNN International
newsgathering senior VP Parisa Khosravi said, "Owning and creating content
is growing our business, on television, online, with affiliates and on new digital
platforms. India has one of the fastest growing economies in the world and it
makes sense for us to have a correspondent in Mumbai that can report for both
our news and business programmes." Kapur
started with CNN in 2001 as an assistant producer and quickly promoted to an anchor
and correspondent, covering a wide range of business and news stories in London
production center. In her new position, Kapur has already started to report from
the financial market in Mumbai, as part of the network's coverage on the global
reaction towards US economic rescue plans. |
