Neo to usher in 24-hour ‘Crickethon’ for India-Australia series

MUMBAI: The highly anticipated India versus Australia Test series kicks off next week. For the same, Neo Cricket has announced a Crickethon initiative which will be a 24-hour round-the-clock telethon coverage.

Crickethon is a concept that will entail round-the-clock cricket programming during the series to cater to all the ‘Cricketainment’ needs of the viewer.

Neo Cricket executive VP programming Mautik Tolia says, “Cricket programming during live cricket has always centered on wraparound shows. Neo Cricket is all set to change the rules of the game ushering in a new era providing the audience round-the-clock 24-hour coverage through the Crickethon.”

The broadcaster says that viewers will be given a seamless broadcast that will integrate all Neo Cricket shows to satisfy the viewer’s need for information and entertainment around the cricket series.

Viewers will get an opportunity to win a new car, select the Indian team to play against England, relive the 20-20 victory and historic games and also get news, analyses and behind-the-scene stories during live matches.

Viewers will get to vote for the player of the series in the Toyota Altis Man of the Series Contest. The one who correctly chooses the Man of the Series will win the new Toyota Altis.

Viewers not satisfied with just choosing one player will be given the chance to select the entire team with My Team India – Chuno Shaan Se. The selection of the squad will be for the upcoming series against England.

On the show Special Edition, viewers shall get to re-experience the historic India versus Australia Test series of 2001 and the impact it had on the game on the episode Greatest Series Ever Played. The show has already celebrated the first anniversary of the 20-20 World Cup victory.

In its offering is also Lords of the Game which will interview cricketers like Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Saurav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds and Brett Lee. The show will air till 8 October, from 7:30 pm onwards.

On match days, early risers will be able to start their day at 6:30 am with Playback – The Highlights Show. For breakfast, there will be Dial C for Cricket Breakfast Special at 7:30 am. Liberal doses of the shows Extra Cover, Tour Diary will also be spread over the live telecast of the matches at lunch, tea and the end.

Viewers who want their Cricketainment to be short and quick can tune in to Playback ‘Fatafat’ Highlights which will be a short two minute highlight package that will run every hour during a match day.

All this will be in addition to other shows of Neo Cricket like Baat and Bowl, Encounter and Ballebaaz. These will feature players from India and Australia, the best encounters between the two countries and the best performances of India against Australia.
