MUMBAI: US media conglomerate News Corp has announced that it will reorganise Jamba's business to leverage its strengths and extend its position in the mobile content industry.

Earlier News Corp had taken full control of Jamba by acquiring 49 per cent stake from VeriSign.

The new structure aims to bring further clarity to Fox’s strategic approach to the mobile content industry by underscoring its global leadership in the areas of distributing, licensing, and producing mobile content while further leveraging the dynamic strengths of the Fox brand and assets.

A new organisation, Fox Mobile Group, will now manage three distinct operating business units focused on mobile content distribution, content licensing and mobile content production.

The new Fox mobile distribution unit will assume responsibility for global distribution of mobile content through various consumer brands.

Fox Mobile Entertainment will continue to focus on licensing content on behalf of Fox Entertainment Group to third parties for mobile delivery and usage.

The new Fox Mobile Studios unit will house the creative and technology talents and assets that develop original mobile content.

Fox Mobile Group CEO Mauro Montanaro says, “This new organisational model aligns our business strengths to the global market opportunities in mobile content distribution, licensing, and production and facilitates the execution of our business strategy to lead in all three areas. We believe these changes will support accelerated growth and extend our global leadership in mobile content licensing, distribution, and production”.

In addition to the reorganisation, the company also announced that it has expanded its global reach in Asia and opened an office in Singapore. The Singapore office serves as home base for Fox Mobile Distribution and Fox Mobile Studios initiatives across rapidly-growing Asian markets.

Fox Mobile Group will be led by Mauro Montanaro, who was named chief executive officer of Jamba earlier this year. Over the past few months, Montanaro has installed a number of new executives who will help run FMG and its newly-established units, including Kaj Hagros, who joined the company as chief operating officer in July. Hagros, based in Berlin, is responsible for developing and executing product, technology and content strategies for Fox mobile distribution’s consumer brands.
