MUMBAI:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket
Australia and Cricket South Africa have jointly announced
the rescheduling of the second edition of the Champions League
Twenty20 in 2009 as it was clashig with the Champions Trophy.
The
Champions League Twenty20 will now be contested from 8-23
October, 2009. It was earlier to be held from 25 September
to 10 October. This would have coincided with the Champions
Trophy which the ICC yesterday announced would take place
from 24 September to 5 October, 2009.
Since
there was a clash of dates, the three founding member boards
decided on the fresh dates for the 2009 Champions League Twenty20.
They reiterated that this was a goodwill response to a request
from the ICC to consider new playing dates for 2009.
The
inaugural Champions League T20 will be held from 3-10 December
this year and eight teams, consisting of the reigning winners
and runners-up from the domestic Twenty20 competitions in
India, Australia and South Africa, plus the reigning Twenty20
champion Sialkot from Pakistan, and the reigning T20 Cup champion
from England, Middlesex, have been invited to compete in the
tournament.
