UTV Movies to launch in US on DirecTV in January

MUMBAI: Hindi movie channel UTV Movies is launching in the US market on the DirecTV DTH platform early next year.

“We will be launching UTV Movies on DirecTV in January 2009. We are also exploring other delivery platforms like cable and IPTV in the US,” says UTV Global Broadcasting executive director Shantonu Aditya.

UTV Movies is already available in 20 countries including New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Nepal.

UTV Movies will be available on DirecTV’s Hindi direct programming packages, which are part of the WorldDirect programming platform and are tailored toward Hindi-speaking audiences in the US.

Bindass Movies will be launched in neighbouring countries by the end of this fiscal, Aditya said. The channel has already received the landing rights in Bangladesh.
