MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel Discovery Travel and Living’s (DTL) host and chef Kylie Kwong rediscovers her chinese heritage, exploring the food and culture of the vast and enigmatic China in her new series Kylie Kwong: My China.

This nine-part series is an inspirational culinary travelogue that follows Kylie into nine cities, as she travels back to the homeland of her ancestors and reignites her passion for the flavours of the East. Kylie Kwong guides viewers through the components of delectable chinese cuisines, highlighting distinct flavours and textures.

The show airs every Tuesday at 10 pm. Set against the backdrop of China’s breathtaking landscape, Kylie’s journey takes her from the rural simplicity of her ancestral village in China's southwest, to the wilds of the Tibetan plateau and the stylish modernity of Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Along the way, Kylie, a fourth-generation Australian-Chinese, gets to know more about the people and their culinary traditions in her third television series, reaching into the very heart and soul of the country.

Each episode invites viewers to join her in her uncharted journey of personal discovery as she traverses China, living off the land, eating where locals eat, helping to prepare meals with locals, and recreating the dishes al fresco, under the critical gaze of her hosts.

Whether searching for the perfect dumpling in Shanghai, exploring the contemporary art scene in Beijing and Hong Kong, rifling through sacks of spices the size of mattresses in Chengdu, or marveling at the silkiness of freshly made noodles in Xi'an, Kylie is tireless in her quest for new experiences and encounters, cooking up a storm and winning hearts wherever she goes.

Discovery India director- marketing and communications Rajiv Bakshi said, “Kylie Kwong: My China is an inspirational travelogue that takes viewers on an exploration of the food and culture of the vast and enigmatic China. The programme offers captivating glimpses of the country and its enchanting flavours.”

In the episode Guangzhou Kylie returns to her great grandfather's ancestral home in Toishan Village, Guangdong province. This is the south of China, the region of plenty, and roots for many of the Chinese of Australia, Canada and USA. As she helps to prepare a typical family meal, Kylie begins to wonder how much of her culinary transitions really spring from this small Cantonese village.

Born into a fourth-generation Australian-Chinese family in Sydney, 0Kwong learnt the fundamentals of Cantonese cooking at her mother’s side. She then honed her skills with several of Australia’s most respected chefs.

Kwong went on to host Kylie Kwong: Cooking with Heart and Soul on DTL which the broadcaster says was acclaimed for its luscious visual style and original approach to new Chinese cooking. In her second series Kylie Kwong: Simply Magic, she travelled to China for cooking inspiration, visiting the boomtown city of Shanghai and the former British colony of Hong Kong.
