MUMBAI: Cash, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Risk are competing for best action film at the AXN Action Awards.

From 15 May viewers can vote by sending an sms to 52525 or by logging on to www.axnactionawards.com.

The AXN Action Awards will have on ground activities in six cities. At each of the events, on-ground paper ballot voting will be available where the fans will receive a form to be filled in their respective cities to vote for their favourite stars.

The channel adds that the spate of action movies last year shows that Bollywood is moving forward from the formulaic Dishoom Dishoom towards more stylised stunts brooding on stark reality. Sanjay Dutt who portrayed the honorary SS Khan in Shootout at Lokhandwala, is one of the nominees in the category of the Best Action Actor. Keeping him company are Ritesh Deshmukh for Cash and Randeep Hooda in Risk.

Amitabh Bachchan who essayed the role of Gabbar in RGV Ki Aag has also bagged a nomination for Best Action Actor in a Negative Role. Also nominated are Vivek Oberoi for Shootout at Lokhandwala and Vinod Khanna in Risk.

Cash , Black Friday and Shootout at Lokhandwala are competing in the action sequence category.

The channel wil also bestow a Lifetime Achievement Award which is aimed at paying tribute to a veteran action star.
