MUMBAI: Apple has struck distribution deals
with four telecom operators including Bharti
Airtel, SingTel, Globe Telecom and Optus.
As part of the deal, the four telecom operators
will distribute Apple's iPhones in Asia-Pacific
region.
SingTel
will sell the gadget in Singapore, while
Bharti Airtel will introduce it in India.
Globe Telecom has the rights to the iPhone
in the Philippines and Optus will offer
it in Australia.
The
announcement follows Vodafone's agreement with Apple which was announced last
week, to sell the iPhone in 10 countries including Australia, India and Italy.
SingTel said that
the handset would be available later this year.
The
iPhone was launched in the US and Europe last year. Apple chose a single network
provider in each country.
