BANGALORE: Tata Indicom (Indicom) announced the all India launch of ‘Walky Talky’ by way of a new ‘stylish’ cordless phone instrument along with different post paid plans for its fixed wireless phone (FWP) connection.

Pre-paid schemes will be announced soon, according to Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTL) CEO of Karnataka and regional head of South Sanjeev Khera. Kannada film diva Jenifer Kotwal of last year’s successful Kannada film Jogi launched the Walky Talky’ in Bangalore today.

The instrument has been priced at Rs 1299 each. The ‘Walky Talky’ instrument is based on WLL technology with back end CDMA and can be used anywhere in the city in which the connection has been taken and hence offers limited mobility to the user within that city itself.

In large metros, each connection has an eight digit phone number and in smaller places it has a seven digit number as opposed to the ten digits for a mobile connection.

Said Khera, “TTL will strive to offer more such value for money products and services in the future.” In Karnataka Indicom (both mobile and FWP) has a market share of around 8 percent, and Khera is confident of growing the market share to 14 to 15 percent over the next six months, with the new ‘Walky Talky’ making a big contribution to the growth. Indicom services are spread across nineteen circles in the country, and the company has a FWP subscriber base of 3.8 million in India."
