Viaccess to buy out Orca Interactive for $21.4 million

MUMBAI:France Telecom subsidiary Viacess is buying out Israel's middleware company Orca Interactive, for an estimated price of $21.4 million.

 

An official release said that Viacess has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent stake in Orca Interactive. However the completion of the transaction is subject to conditions, precedents and notably to the approval of the transaction by the extraordinary general meeting of Orca Intercative.

 
The acquisition will allow Viaccess to seize the new opportunities of the TV and video markets. Besides it can bring innovative solutions to content services operators such as broadcasters and telecom companies.

Viaccess CEO François Moreau de Saint Martin said, “The acquisition of Orca Interactive by Viaccess will let both companies leverage their respective positions in the fast growing IPTV market. They will be key players of the evolution of the television industry thanks to IP technologies.”

Viaccess delivers conditional access and DRM solutions in more than 30 countries. Particularly in IPTV protection, Viaccess has over 1.2 million active subscribers.

Orca Interactive is provider of IPTV middleware and applications for broadband network operators and service providers. It empowers the operator to deliver broadcast TV, video on demand (VOD), personal video recording (PVR), home media and other compelling interactive services.
