The

took place at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion - "where
Hollywood meets the slime" - and gave a new meaning
to "Go Green!" The broadcaster says that
for the first time three interactive celebrity slime
stunts, hosted by Laila Ali and featuring Akon, Usher
and Heidi Klum, led to the longest slime time in history
- and the climactic superstar sliming of Orlando Bloom
and host Black.
More than doubling last year's record-breaking record,
86,708,020 million kids cast online votes from 3-29
March in 18 categories to honour their favourites.
Depp won for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's
End, Alba was recognised for Fantastic Four:
Rise of the Silver Surfer. Alvin and the Chipmunks
and Ratatouille, respectively, grabbed favourite
movie and favourite animated movie. Eddie Murphy clinched
a blimp as favourite voice in an animated movie for
Shrek the Third. TV awards went to American
Idol for favourite reality show, and Drake
and Josh won for TV show.
Tony
Hawk and Danica Patrick scored for male athlete and
female athlete, respectively. In music, Chris Brown
seized the male singer award and The Jonas Brothers
triumphed as a group; Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend"
won for favourite song. The Harry Potter series
by JK Rowling notched the favourite book honour.
Miley
Cyrus excited the kid crowd with a production number
of Girl's Night Out from her concert tour/movie,
and The Naked Brothers Band rocked with I Don't
Wanna Go to School. Skateboarders, BMX bikers
and in-line skaters leaped and played with moves.
In
a show highlight, the "Wannabe Award," an
annual honour bestowed on a celebrity role model who
kids most "want to be," was presented to
Cameron Diaz by Ashton Kutcher. "This is the
biggest honour of my entire life! Kids are the future...
and I'm honoured to inspire you to change this world,"
said Diaz.
