UTV's World Movies launches World Movies platinum collection

MUMBAI: World Movies, the international movie channel from the house of UTV will show 'World Movies Platinum Collection', starting this April.

The collection includes entertaining award winning films from around the world. The list boasts of films like The Counterfeiters from Austria (the Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film 2008), Twilight Samurai from Japan , Zelary from Czech Republic, Hidden Blade from Japan and Frida among others.

World Movies Platinum Collection will also feature films from directors like Truffaut, Kieslowski, Kurosawa, Luc Besson.

UTV Entertainment Television COO Dishad Master said, “This is our prized collection of the most famous, most award winning and most precious films ever made. We have hand picked every movie here from film festivals around the world and traveled across Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Tokyo, Hong Kong and the United States to get our viewers this most amazing collection.”

Apart from World Movies Platinum Collection, World Movies is also introducing three new time slots starting in April. 'Monday Night Comedies' on Mondays and 'Great Destinations on Wednesdays' and 'Thursday Thrillers' on Thursday all starting at 8:30 pm.

'Monday Night Comedies' will feature comedy movies from around the world. Spanish film Queens, romantic French comedy Black Cat, White Cat are few titles which will feature in the slot.

Viewers can watch movies run in the 'Great Destination' slot and decide on the right destination for their vacation.

'Thursday Thrillers' will show thrillers and suspence movies. The movies to be aired in this slot include Koma a Cantonese thriller about kidney theft; Eye In The Sky about a Hong Kong police surveillance unit that tracks its prey silently, Spanish film on the occult The Hidden, French thriller Money.
