MUMBAI:
UTV's international film channel World Movies has announced
a programming initiative Wow - World of Women this
month.
On
the occasion of International Women's Day, it will air films
that showcase the different life stages of a woman every Saturday
at 8:30 pm.
UTV
Entertainment Television COO Dilshad Master says, "Wow
- World of Women talks to women of all ages, across all
walks of life. The movies on Wow are young, entertaining
and commercial-successes from around the globe dedicated to
women."
The
lineup includes the following movies:
Three
Colours: Blue airs on 8 March. This is a classic French
movie by Krzysztof Kieslowski starring Juliette Binoche who
survives an automobile accident that claims the lives of her
famous composer husband and her five-year-old daughter. Her
graceful recovery from this traumatic experience and her strength
against all odds makes this movie a must-see.
Minoes
airs on 15 March and is a Dutch movie by Vincent Bal based
on a novel by Annie MG Schmidt. It is about a cat that turns
into a young woman but retains some of her feline characteristics,
and helps a journalist.
On
22 March, Cleopatra, a Spanish movie by Eduardo Mignogna,
takes centrestage. It tells the story of a retired teacher
and a soap star who leave their routine lives to embark on
a very interesting weekend road trip.
The
Japanese film Hana and Alice airs on 29 March 2008.
Directed by Shunji Iwai, it is about childhood friends Hana
and Alice. Alice is unrestrained and free-spirited. Hana is
always picking up the pieces as a result of it.
