MUMBAI:
The convention on the business of entertainment Ficci Frames
2008 kicks off tomorrow 25 March 2008 in Mumbai.
It
will witness stalwarts pointing the way to sustain and make
the industrys current bull run even bigger. With the
entertainment and media industry clocking a robust 17 per
cent growth in 2007 over the previous year, the mood among
the industry players is one of optimism and expectancy.
Reliance
Entertainment chairman Amit Khanna, Entertainment Network
India Ltd (ENIL) MD and CEO AP Parigi, INX Group chairman
Peter Mukherjea, Ficci Entertainment Committee chairman Yash
Chopra and filmmaker Subhash Ghai will analyse the challenges
and opportunities in the entertainment sector, including film
entertainment.
Another
session looks at the news genre and discusses whether it is
entertainment. NDTV managing editor Barkha Dutt; India TV
chairman and editor-in-chief Rajat Sharma; newscaster and
consultant Vinod Dua; TV Today Network CEO G Krishnan; Bloomberg
head, media distribution Clarke Cooke; Euronews CEO Philippe
Cayla will discuss the present scenario of "news"
and future trends as the delivery of news and content changes
and the thin line between news and entertainment becomes even
slimmer.
The
first day if the convention will also explore and discuss
the resurgence of the language media, developing animation
content, redefining television content, ways to entice and
enthrall audiences, new-age technology in animation, entertainment
financing. One session will review the status of the gaming
sector.
