Qualcomm appoints Sandeep Sibal as VP and country manger of technology

BANGALORE: Qualcomm announced that it has appointed Sandeep Sibal as vice president and country manager of technology for Qualcomm India and South Asia.

 

In this role, Sibal will be responsible for driving Qualcomm's wireless technologies and solutions in the region. This includes next generation wireless devices and services based on Qualcomm's technology roadmaps for both CDMA2000 1X/EV-DO and WCDMA/HSPA. Additionally, Sibal will be responsible for driving the adoption of technology initiatives such as gpsOne, BREW, MediaFLO, and Mobile Commerce within the wireless ecosystem in the region.

 
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Sibal held the position of technology advisor at Reliance Communications since its commercial launch. Before returning to India to join Reliance Communications, Sibal was co-founder and chief technology officer of Kirusa Inc. He started his career at AT&T Bell Labs and AT&T Shannon Labs in New Jersey. Sibal has 15 patents to his credit.
