MUMBAI:
Bollywood couple Kajol and Ajay Devgan launched Radio One's
third annual "speed dating" event, Dating Fatafat,
in Mumbai on Friday evening.
Aimed
at young working professionals in the city, speed dating is
a new way for busy professionals to get out of their comfort
zone, make new friends, network and meet their future partners.
The success of speed dating is based on the psychological
evidence that most people make up their minds on whether they
like someone or not within the first 30 seconds of meeting.
Radio
One CEO Vineet Singh Hukmani says, "Today's generation
of radio listeners is very clear about what it wants and wants
it instantly. That's why Radio One is positioned as 'the station
for the fatafat generation' and all our events follow this
very theme.
"Speed
dating is a fast, fun and safe way to meet like-minded people,
making new friends, networking and possibly meeting 'the one,'
something that may not always be possible with the very busy
work schedules people have nowadays."
"Dating
Fatafat is one of many promotions from Radio One that keeps
the station vibrant and exciting for its listeners,"
he adds.
The
contest began on 20 February and ran for a week, with calls
for entries through 30-second spots on Radio One playing through
the day, press ads in Mid Day as well as through mailers
to members of Club One. A panel of Radio One RJs selected
the 10 most eligible men and 10 most eligible women, who were
invited to participate in this fun evening.
On
inaugurating the event, Kajol said, "I think it's a great
idea by Radio One to help people find mates in this busy city."
Kajol
and Devgan encouraged participants to go ahead and give it
their best, participate fully, as they could possibly make
a friend at the event, and possibly make somebody more than
a friend.
