MUMBAI: GlobeCast and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have signed a multi-year deal for global satellite and fiber distribution of pay-per-view live events from across North America in both high and standard definition.

The initial agreement includes 14 pay-per-view events in 2008. The events include The Royal Rumble, WrestleMania XXIV, Summerslam and Armageddon.

To support the delivery of the matches, GlobeCast is furnishing a dedicated project management team to support WWE, from pre-event coordination to live support during the events.

GlobeCast provides WWE with a dual HD and SD distribution solution, with satellite and fiber connectivity for pre-event testing and the live events.

In addition, GlobeCast will provide post-event replays for WWE’s North American affiliates, including backhaul from its headquarters in Stamford, Conn. to the locations of each event.

GlobeCast’s turnkey service includes full encryption of all transmissions and the deployment of new HD receivers at all of WWE’s North American HD-ready affiliates to supplement previously-supplied SD decoders.
