BANGALORE:
The second edition of the Reliance Mobile Vijay Awards will
be held in Chennai next month.
As
part of the ground activities, a mobile van "Rasigan
Express" would travel to the key cities in Tamil Nadu
over a period of two weeks. Rasigan Express aims at getting
viewers to nominate their favourite hero, heroine, director
and film from the 107 films released in 2007, , says a Vijay
TV official release.
Apart
from the four favourite awards, 22 other category awards and
four special awards will be decided by a jury comprising popular
actor Bhagyaraj, film critic Madan, actor and film analyst
Lizzy Priyadarshan.
The
four special category awards are: Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan
award for excellence in cinema, award for contribution to
cinema, best entertainer (chosen by the film industry), and
Icon of the Year (chosen by media agencies and clients).
Reliance
Mobile Vijay Awards will also have an on-air component - a
weekly feature showcasing the journey of the Rasigan Express
and the judges panel discussing the movies and possible nominations
in each category. The show would go on air in the last week
of this month. The awards function is likely to be held during
the third week of April 2008, according to industry sources.
While
Reliance Mobile is the title sponsor for the event, details
about the other sponsors would be finalised within a few days'
time. Last year, Nokia, Nippon Paints and Haywells Fans were
among the national level co-sponsors while TVS Star City and
Sheenlac who have a good brand recall all over India were
also co-sponsors. Among the notable local retail co-sponsors
was Vasanth & Co.
