Avid, HP tie up for mass media education initiative

MUMBAI: Hewlett-Packard India, which works in the PC space, and Avid Technology, which works in the field of digital nonlinear media creation, management and distribution solutions, have announced an exclusive partnership.

This will provide an educational pre-bundled PC at a special price for the media educational sector. The product is aimed at educational institutes offering professional and vocational courses in mass media and students pursuing such courses.

 

The bundled solution is configured on latest HP XW 4600 workstation and has Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00 4MB/1333 CPU, 4 GB RAM, Quadro FX570 256MB PCIe Graphics. It is shipped with Avid Media Composer software. The solution can store over 15 hours of DV25 video.

Worldwide HP and Avid have been working together to provide customers with solutions. Extension of this relationship in India would bring availability of complete solutions to users at their doorsteps from single source at special prices and better customer support. The solution will be offered through educational channel partners of HP and Avid.

 

Avid Technology country head Krishan Sanghi says, "Technology in the field of mass media is changing constantly. While industry adopts new technologies very fast, educational institutes often lag behind due to limit on their affordability. To have real competitiveness in field, students require to be trained in cutting-edge technology that is used in the industry.
