MUMBAI: Virgin Mobile will be adding the BBC iPlayer on its Electronic Programming Guide (EPG).

The BBC's video-on-demand application will available as a section on Virgin's 'catch-up' TV service on its EPG. Over 350 hours of BBC programmes will be added to Virgin's line-up of on-demand content.

The new addition will build Virgin's on-demand content programming upto 4,500 hours. Virgin's 3.5 million TV customers will be the first to get the iPlayer on a TV platform and will be able to watch full screen quality pictures without the need for downloading.

Virgin stated that 48 per cent of its TV customers regularly use the on-demand service and also reported that the number of views per customer has grown in the last year from 11 to 24 times per month. And this amounts to a total average of 36 million views a month.
