Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd. (Zeel) has launched a 24-hour free-to-air (FTA)
movie channel Zee Aflam in the Middle East. Available
on Nilesat, the first of its kind channel features Hindi films that are subtitled
and adapted specially for Arab family viewing, as reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com.
Zee
Network CEO Mena and Pakistan region Elias Mouawad said, Studies on viewer
habits and needs have been conducted and have shown a need for an Indian movie
channel catered to the Arab viewer. Based on these findings, we took the decision
to add Zee Aflam to the Zee Network family. Zee
Aflam is showcasing its primetime movies in four popular categories ranging from
latest Bollywood blockbusters to classics. The
channel has defined segments catering to various genres like romance, action,
comedy. Romantic movies come under the heading From the Heart to the Heart
(Min Al Qalb Ela Al Qalb) and are screened every Wednesday. Called
Amitabh as your Guest (Khali Amitabh Daifak), the second category
features the films of Amitabh Bachchan on every Thursday.
On Friday is Family Gathering (Film Al Jumaa Al Aeli), where it will show
movies ranging from comedy to drama. The
Best of Bollywood (Rawaea Bollywood) features world famous movies. "This
is the Best (Wala Arwaa) and includes all time famous hits starring the
biggest names in Hindi cinema. The Best of Bollywood can be seen every Saturday,"
the company said in a statement. Consequently,
the films have been edited down to a more appealing two-hour format suitable for
family viewing in the local Middle East market. Also
