MUMBAI: The problem of interference to the satellite signals of broadcasters and others is growing worse, an international forum in Atlanta has been told.

"Interference is coming in all shapes and sizes," Intelsat's Vice-President for Network Operations, Khalid Chaudhry, was quoted as telling a meeting of the World Broadcasting Unions International Satellite Operations Group (WBU-ISOG) at CNN headquarters.

Chaudhry was quoted as saying the problem was becoming more critical because of the global demand for the Internet, including services for ships and aircraft.

WBU-ISOG is campaigning for all encoders to include data that would identify the source of the signal, to help pinpoint where interference is coming from.
