MUMBAI:
Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar has ventured into the FM arena
with its first station, Radio Dhoom, launching in Chhattishgarh
capital Ranchi on Friday.
The
radio station has launched with the tagline, 'Tension nahi
lene ka'. The content on the station will comprise a mix of
regional songs in Bhojpuri, Bengali and Punjabi along with
Bollywood tracks. Radio Dhoom 104.8 FM will be launching its
second station in Jamshedpur next month.
Commenting
on the content, Radio Dhoom chief administrator Sanjeev Kumar
Singh says, "Our music content would have 60 per cent
of Bollywood songs and 40 per cent of the remaining. Radio
Dhoom will play a mixture of these songs throughout the day
every hour rather than allotting specific slots for the regional
ones."
Radio
Dhoom is focusing on listeners between the age group 14-35.
The other FM players in Ranchi include Radio Dhamaal, Radio
Mantra and Big FM. Quizzed how the compamy plans to grab the
listeners's eardrums from already existing stations, Singh
replies, "We believe in giving out information to our
listeners rather than just playing songs, so we would have
slots like helpline, updates etc. This would differentiate
us from the existing players."
