MUMBAI:
Star has announced three new appointments in its programming
and content function.
Jyotsna
Viriyala has been named VP programming for Star World India
and Star Movies India. She moves in from Media Content and
Communication Services (MCCS), a JV between Star and ABP Group,
where she served as assistant VP overseeing research, business
strategies, operations and on-air promotions.
Bonny
Yu has been named VP programming, Xing Kong, Star's Mandarin
general entertainment channel for Mainland China. Yu joined
Star from the Walt Disney Company, where she served for nearly
three years as VP programming, Asia Pacific, for the Disney
Channel.
Jennifer Batty has been appointed VP programming, Star World.
She joined Star from European broadcaster Viasat, where for
the last three years she served as Pay TV, programme director,
channel development and was head of programming, Factual Pay
TV. Prior to that, she held a number of TV sales, programming
and development posts with broadcasters including Discovery
Europe and Alliance Atlantis.
The
three newly appointed programming VPs will spearhead scheduling,
acquisition, and content strategies for their respective channels.
Yu and Batty are based in Hong Kong and Viriyala is based
in Mumbai. Batty reports to president Stars president
of entertainment Todd Lituchy, while Yu reports to Lituchy
and Star China CEO Jack Gao. Viriyala will report to Batty
and Star Movies VP programming Brian Lau.
