MUMBAI:
UTV is all set to launch their international movies channel
'World Movies' by 23 January.
"We
are launching the channel on or before 23 January," said
UTV Bindass CEO Zarina Mehta.
Indiantelevision.com
had earlier reported that UTV would be launching a bouquet
of channels including international cinema, Hindi cinema,
business news and two regional channels during 2008.
'World
Movies' will be a paid channel, and will showcase international
movies with subtitles.
"For
the first time in India, we will show blockbuster movies form
France, Korea and Germany, etc to our viewers with English
subtitles. Thus, it will not be just an English movie channel,"
adds Mehta.
On
the question of acquisitions of movies and sponsors Mehta
said, "Issues with Palador have been sorted out and we
are in talks with investors, which is almost final, and shortly
an announcement will be made."
The
TG of the channel, like in the case of older sibling Bindass,
is between the 15-34 years age group.
"We
are not a part of the crowd. We have zeroed in on a specific
audience that is young India, which comprise almost 42 per
cent of the Indian population," says UTV Bindass marketing
head Sita Laxmi Narayan Swamy.
