MUMBAI: Brazilian Catholic channel TV Canção Nova, along with teleport SatLink Communications, has announced today the TV channel's launch into the Asian market on SatLink's Asiasat 2 MCPC platform.

With the Vatican’s representatives in the Holy Land (Custodia di Terra Santa) already connected to SatLink’s teleport via fibre optics, this move is yet another step in the growing relationship between the two.

TV Canção Nova is already globally present on a range of satellites, but the channel’s launch to Asiasat 2 is its first step into Asia-Pacific region. The channel says that it maintains a differentiated programming in the television scene, with spirituality, journalism, children’s programmes, events, interviews, discussions, music, entertainment, culture and promotional programmes.

Canção Nova Community founder and president Monsignor Jonas Abib says, “To be on Asiasat 2 is a historic mark not only for Canção Nova but for the whole Catholic Church in the world. We’re proud to be able to spread out the principles of peace, love, happiness and hope to the people of all Asian countries."

Satlink CEO David Hochner said, “We’re excited to play such a crucial role in introducing TV Canção Nova to the Asian market and look forward to continuing this successful relationship. Our Asiasat 2 MCPC platform gives channels the opportunity to penetrate this region with outstanding results, and we’re glad to take TV Canção Nova there."
