Cable operator arrested in Mumbai for pirating Neo Sports signals

MUMBAI: Mumbai police, with the aid of the Neo Sports' anti piracy team, has nabbed Amar Pratap Singh, proprietor of Amar Cable Network, a cable television network of Mumbai, for pirating and distributing the signals of Neo Sports to its subscribers illegally and without any authorisation from Neo Sports Broadcast Pvt Ltd.

Police has registered a criminal case and sealed the equipments being used in transmitting the illegal signals. Local court has rejected the bail application filed by Singh.

Neo Sports affiliate sales president Arun Poddar said, "The network was pirating Neo Sports feed for quite some time and disturbing the authorised networks, of the said territory; therefore, it was very important for us to take action."

The Neo Sports anti-piracy agency camped in Mumbai for a couple of days and managed to track the cable head-end from where the Neo Sports signals were demodulated illegally.

Earlier, iIn order to curtail piracy and apprehend the people indulging or abetting piracy, several raids had been conducted on behalf of Zee Turner all over the country in places like Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Mumbai and Pune, among others.
