| MUMBAI:
Hindi general entertainment channel 9X is creating the afternoon band with the
launch of three shows on 14 January. Rasm-E-Rasoi, Neelanjanaa and
Veeranwali will air in the 12.30-2 pm slot.
9X
is also expanding the prime time band from 7 January with
a new show Dahhej. Produced by B.A.G Films and Media, the
prime time soap will air Monday-Thursday at 8:30 pm.
9X's
prime time currently runs from 9 pm to 11 pm. Says INX Media
founder and CEO Indrani Mukerjea, "We have achieved nearly
40 GRPs since six weeks of launch. We are increasing our two
hours of original programming as viewers are expecting more
from us."
The
afternoon band will particularly target women in smaller cities.
Says Mukerjea, "We want to target small cities women
with our shows with large stories and smaller sets, quite
opposite from what is happening today, small stories and huge
sets."
Anchored
by Chef Nikhil Rastogi, Rasm-e-Rasoi is a cookery show.
Besides featuring recipes of varied cuisines, it will also
invite viewers to share their recipes.
Edit II's production Neelanjanaa is the story of a
blue eyed girl from a small village of Madhya Pradesh. This
story is about how she is helped by a journalist to escape
the evil of the flesh trade prevalent in her society. But
soon, her whole world turns upside down with certain developments
in her life.
Veeranwali,
produced by Creative Eye, is the story of a sister and her brothers from Punjab.
Besides these soaps, 9X will telecast a Bollywood event Ten on 9X
on Sunday 6 January at 8.30 pm where Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali
Khan, Lara Dutta, Udita Goswami, Kailaash kher, Shaan, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and
Sunidhi Chauhan will be performing. Sajid khan will host the show.
