MUMBAI:
AXN, the action and adventure channel from SPE Networks Asia
stable, has called for entries for the third edition of its
local reality show Amazing Race Asia. The last date
to register is 25 February.
The
show features couples moving from one destination to another.
The winner is the one who reaches the final destination first.
At each pit stop, the couple that shows up last is eliminated.
Malaysian team comprising Zabrina and Joe Jer won the first
edition. The apparently overweight brothers Mardy and Marsio
from the same season prevailed over much trimmer, tauter,
younger teams to endure till almost the final leg of the race.
In the second season, Terri and Henry, the oldest and possibly
most argumentative team, have continued to beat out a whole
host of determined youngsters in the game.
And disability has not deterred the Singapore team from competing:
Colin and hearing-impaired Adrian are still competing.
SPE
Networks Asia GM Ricky Ow says, "The cast of season two
has clearly shown that this is not a race for the faint-hearted.
The drama you see on TV are all real - the crying, shouting,
fighting and panic attacks - nothing is scripted or planned.
These are real people showing real emotions, whether they
are experienced showbiz people or not, nothing prepared them
for such intensity in front of the camera.
"But
what they gain out of the whole experience is something that
money cannot buy. The adrenaline rush, the chance to travel
around the world, doing things they never thought they would
ever attempt, conquering their lifelong fears
this race
has it all. We are looking for people with the drive, determination
and curiosity to explore this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And to make it even more exciting, we are making the new race
the hardest one yet, so only the team with the most perseverance
will triumph."
