Neo Sports Plus inks broadcasting rights deal with PGA Tour

MUMBAI: Neo Sports Broadcast Pvt Ltd's all-sports channel Neo Sports Plus today announced an agreement with PGA Tour for broadcasting the US arm of the PGA Tour in India for the calendar years 2008 and 2009. The live telecast of the PGA Tour on Neo Sports Plus will air on 24 January 2008 with the Buick Invitational, according to an official release.

In addition to winning the broadcast rights, Neo Sports Plus will present two shows every week produced by the PGA: The PGA Tour Highlights, which will focus on the highlights of the previous week's PGA action, and Inside PGA, which will be a peek into the PGA events of the week ahead.

Commenting on the deal, Neo Sports Plus EVP (strategy and business development) Prasana Krishnan stated, "The PGA Tour is the premier golf event in the world. We are truly excited to work with the PGA Tour to bring coverage of this exclusive event to millions of golf fans back home"

PGA Tour SVP (international television) Tim Leisure said, "The PGA Tour are extremely pleased to welcome Neo Sports Plus as a broadcast partner and to deliver the best golf in the world to the Indian subcontinent and to Indian fans of the sport. We are truly impressed by the promotional reach of their flagship channel and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them in this key market"

This season of the PGA Tour will have stalwarts like Tiger Woods, Daniel Chopra, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh, among others. The PGA Tour season will have two parts - FedEx Cup, which includes the PGA tour regular season, and the PGA Tour Playoffs.
