ESPN Star Sports acquires mobile rights of Indo-Australia cricket

MUMBAI: ESPN Star Sports has acquired the mobile rights of the ongoing India's tour of Australia featuring four Test matches, 15 ODIs and a Twenty20 International from Cricket Australia. This is the first time that mobile content from cricket played in Australia will be made available on mobile ESPN / Star Sports mobile.

 

Under the agreement with Cricket Australia, Mobile ESPN/ Star Sports Mobile will provide a multitude of video clips, wall papers and animations as mobile downloads.

The video clips will contain highlights of key innings, fall of wickets and key wicket haul. The wall papers and animation will capture key moments of the match and revolve around the star players.

Mobile ESPN/ Star Sports mobile services are currently available on all the leading telcos in India including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL and Aircel.

 

Mobile ESPN and Star Sports Mobile will aggregate an India in Australia zone on the WAP portal (wap.mobilespn.in) which can be accessed by the GPRS users of telcos in India including Airtel, Vodaphone, Idea, BSNL and Aircel, ESS said in a statement.

Mobile ESPN and Star Sports mobile have created special Cricket video packs for users. Mobile users can download unlimited video content for the Test series at a rental of Rs 99 from the zone or pay per download.

ESPN Software India executive vice president, ad sales, business development and new media Sanjay Kailash said, "India's young generation has taken to the Mobile space as a key medium to deliver &andexperience quality sporting content. The response to Mobile ESPN/STAR Sports Mobile has been very positive and we expect a lot of user activity during the India tour of Australia."
