| MUMBAI:
NDTV Imagine will be squaring up against a barrage of new offerings from the competition
when it makes its debut next Monday onto the Hindi general entertainment arena.
Star Plus,
Star One and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) are all launching new shows to
beat the clutter and break through to the increasingly choice overloaded viewer.
Leader
Star Plus is launching a fiction-based half-hour show Raja
Ki Aayegi Baraat, on 21 January in the 8 pm time band,
replacing Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni. Star
One, meanwhile, has put off by a week its plans of adding
another fiction-based show to its roster in Pari
Hoon Main. This show, which will air in the 9 to 10 pm
band, has now set a 28 January launch date.
As
for SET, it is launching Babul Ka Aangann Chhotey Na. Replacing Smriti
Irani's Virrudh, the fiction-based show will telecast at 10 pm.
Star
Plus is also sprucing up its weekend prime time with a celebrity
game show Kaho Na Yaar Hai (KNYH). Starting
Friday (18 January) at 8 pm, the one-hour show will replace
the channel's big ticket celeb dance competition Nach Baliye
3.
Produced
by Optimystix Production, KNYH is a reality show where celebrities and
their best friends indulge in funny, mischievous and interesting games. The team
(comprising a main celebrity and his/her two friends) with the highest score emerges
a winner. Star
Plus senior creative director, programming Anupama Mandloi said, "KNYH
is one show that celebrates friendship in the craziest of ways. The show features
celebrities with their best friends, competing in two separate teams and is an
entertaining mix of warmth, fun, madness, camaraderie, revelation and sheer high
spirits. This show promises to bring a smile to everyone's face." KNYH
will witness participation from celebrities such as Sajid Khan, Dia Mirza, Mallika
Sherawat, Sonu Nigam, Ronit Roy and Gautami Kapoor, among others. The show will
be anchored by Karan Patel. |
