MUMBAI: Gaurav Seth has quit from Essel Group's Indian Cricket League (ICL) as head of marketing and communication. He has been appointed as business head of Vyas Giannetti Creative Sports (VGCS), a sporting concepts firm which is part of of Vyas Giannetti Creative (VGC).

Seth was with the Zee Group for over 3 years where he was involved in setting up their maiden sports channel, Zee Sports and the ICL project full-time. In his career spanning 14 years, Seth has also had a long stint with ESPN Star Sports and AltaVista prior to Zee.

Seth said, "I think it's an amazing time to be in sports. There is a growing buzz around non-cricket sports, corporates are increasingly viewing it as an alternative platform to build and own, media is aggressively chasing even the smallest of stories around sport, film-makers are getting into the act and to top it all, there is a new breed of young sportspersons hungry for success at the world level. It all augurs very well for this fledgling industry of sports management.

"Launching the ICL against literally all odds and tackling a myriad of problems which come with setting up a new concept and that too against such formidable opposition, was no mean feat. I believe those learnings will hold me in good stead and will aid me in creating some amazing sporting properties at VGC Sports."

VGC COO Atul Hegde said, "Gaurav brings with him loads of experience in the sporting arena but more importantly a mindset that looks at sports as a platform to build brands and not just being used as media reach vehicles. I look forward to Gaurav taking the company to its next level now."
