MUMBAI:
Leading soap factory Balaji Telefilms is foraying into nonfiction
with reality shows and mega events.
This
information was conveyed at a media briefing announcing "The
Global Indian TV Honours", which is to be held on 1 February.
While
not offering any specifics, Balaji Telefilms creative head
Ekta Kapoor said, "Now is the time for Balaji's progression
to nonfiction with reality shows and mega events. The Global
Indian TV Honours is our pioneering venture in the nonfiction
arena. This is our first step in the genre of nonfiction,
reality shows will follow."
The
award ceremony will be telecast on INX Media's Hindi channel
9X. INX Media founder and CEO Indrani Mukerjea said, "9X
has become an extension of Balaji with two shows already on
air and the mega-event in the pipeline."
The
awards will have six main categories with 30 sub-categories.
The six categories will comprise popular, technical, programming,
achievement, special honours and voters choice. The nominees
for the various categories will be scrutinised by Ernst &
Young.
