MUMBAI: In a move that lends support for HDMI v1.3, connectivity solutions provider Gefen has come out with new solutions that are designed to support the expanded format.

All the solutions operate with Gefen’s plug-and-play methodology, offering both professionals and consumers a method of enhancing their high definition television (HDTV) systems with add-on support.

When an HDTV needs access to more than one video source, Gefen’s selection of switchers enable an easy way to integrate multiple sources with one HDTV. The new 4x1 Switcher allows four sources, such as satellite set-top boxes, disk players and gaming systems to be connected to one display or projector.

A 3x1 Switcher connects any three sources to one display. Access to any source is controlled by the switcher’s IR remote or by pressing front-panel buttons on each unit. HDCP-compliant video in resolutions up to 1080p, with eight channels of digital audio, is switched for all sources, enabling a true HD performance.

This enhanced extension system delivers HD video and multi-channel audio up to 100 metres from the source to the display using fibre optics cables linked by Gefen’s sender and receiver system. It is compatible with all disk players, satellite set top boxes and displays that use HDMI including the expanded HDMI v1.3 format. HD resolutions are supported up to 1080p with complete HDCP compliance to ensure a flawless remote performance.
