DELHI: The Seventh ‘DD Annual Awards – 2007’
are to be telecast on Doordarshan on 10 February.
The
telecast of the glittering Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony
at Mumbai Doordarshan Kendra will commence from 9.30 pm. The
ceremony was held on 4 February.
Information
and Broadcasting minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi presented the
awards to the winners. Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer
B. S. Lalli, and Doordarshan Director General Leela Dhar Mandloi
were also present.
The presentation ceremony was interspersed with a variety
entertainment programme which showcases national integration
and regional flavour of Indian culture.
Top Artistes of the film industry presented a number of programmes
which included Ganesh Vandana by Gracy Singh, Ghazals by Jagjit
Singh, Bhakti Sangeet by Shekhar Sen, Instrument Jugalbandi
of Carnatic and Hindustani music by wellknown leading women
instrumentalists: Anuradha
Pal - tabla, Sangeeta Shankar - Violin, Jayanthi Kumaresh
- Veena, and Mridangam - Ranjani.
The
show features popular numbers rendered by Mahalaxmi Iyer and
Kailash Kher. Film Actress Varsha Usgaonkar and her group
presented a scintillating performance of popular folk item
of Lavni of Maharashtra.
The luminaries included Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Ramnarayan, Sonali
Kulkarni, Aroona Irani, Sudhir Dalvi, Anoop Jalota, Kumar
Sanu and others. The presentation ceremony was anchored by
Sumit Raghavan and Rajeshwari Sachdev.
