DELHI: Vir Sanghvi, former CEO of INX News and editorial head
of the group's upcoming news channel NewsX, has joined back
Hindustan Times.
According
to sources, he will be chief editor of the news daily.
Interestingly,
Hindustan Times Group has also initiated the process of launching
a news channel.
Talking
to Indiantelevision.com, however, Sanghvi said: "There
has been no change. I was always Editorial Director at HT
and am still so."
Sanghvi
clarified: "My contract with INX News was solely for
the television channel and my position so far as print journalism
is concerned, had been retained as ED, HT. So it is not as
if I have left INX News and joined back."
"Even
as I was with INX News, I had an office in the Hindustan Times
and I am still working out of that office," he added.
Sanghvi
says his contract not only allowed him to write his weekly
columns in the HT, but also work for the newspaper.
Asked
whether he is back as Editor in Chief, Sanghvi did not elaborate.
Asked
if the HT Media news channel is coming soon, Sanghvi said:
"All that is at a formative stage and it is premature
to speak on that."
Sanghvi
had joined INX News and had taken a senior team from HT with
him.
When
Sanghvi left INX News, most senior members in his team were
also out.
However,
most have them are yet to join back HT, sources said.
