MUMBAI:
Three former Australian Test players, Damien Martyn, Michael
Kasprowicz and Matthew Elliott have signed up with Zee's Indian
Cricket League (ICL).
Kasprowicz
is a pacer, while Elliott is an opening batsman. Martyn surprised
fans by retiring during Australia's Ashes triumph in 2006.
ICL
executive board chairman Kapil Dev says, "They will strengthen
the teams, making the league showcase competitive cricket.
It will provide our young domestic players the challenge to
test their skills with some of the best exponents of the game,
thus fulfilling one of the key objectives of ICL."
ICL
executive board member Tony Greig says, "These talented
players have been hand-picked keeping the 20 overs format
in mind. Kasprowicz's line and length, and Martyn's stroke
play would surely make it an enthralling experience for cricket
viewers."
