MUMBAI:
US media conglomerate News Corp has announced that former
White House chief speechwriter Bill McGurn has been appointed
as VP.
The
49-year-old will oversee major speeches and contribute to
News Corp publications.
McGurn
had previously served as a speechwriter for News Corp chairman
and CEO Rupert Murdoch. He says, Bill made a financial
sacrifice to serve our country in a time of war, and I am
delighted to welcome him back.
McGurn
spent the past three years as chief speechwriter for President
Bush, where he directed a team that included six other speechwriters,
and was responsible for all the Presidents public speeches.
Before
joining News Corp, McGurn had a long career in journalism
at Dow Jones that included postings in Europe and Asia, as
well as a stint as chief editorial writer for The Wall
Street Journal.
He said, Most of my life has been spent with newspapers.
Im excited to be back with the most dynamic media company
in the world, which is transforming the news business for
the 21st century. I look forward to working with Mr Murdoch,
and helping in any way I can.
