MUMBAI:
Green TV issues will be focussed upon at the upcoming television
trade event MipTV.
The
event takes place in Cannes, France from 7-11 April 2008.
Players like David de Rothschild, Kevin Wall and Yann Arthus-Bertrand,
will take part in a series of debates and events focusing
on the role of media and the fight against global warming.
de Rothschild will be presenting his collaboration with kids
channel Nickelodeon UK during a MipTV Keynote. He will use
the occasion to talk about the multimedia project Nicks
Big Green Thing, a series of ecological programmes for
a younger audience, launched this month.
de Rothschild is a 29 year-old British adventurer and environmentalist,
who is unrelenting in his quest to protect the environment,
raises awareness and promotes positive action.
Founder
of Live Earth and Control Room Kevin Wall will give a keynote
detailing the media architecture that enabled over two billion
people around the world to experience the Live Earth concerts.
Held on 7 July 2007, Live Earth brought together 150 music
artists on nine stages across seven continents, delivering
a solutions-based message to solve the climate crisis.
During
Green Day on 7 April, Japanese public broadcaster NHK will
receive a Green World Award. This prize is a tribute to the
channels continuing commitment to raising public awareness
of environmental issues over the last 50 years.
Reed
Midem television division dierctor Paul Johnson says, MIPTVs
green conferences underpin Reed Midems 'Going Green'
strategy of promoting environmental awareness and sound ecological
practice to the entertainment and media industries.
We continue to use MipTV as a forum to help companies
worldwide exchange innovative ideas that contribute to sustainable
green solutions that improve the world we live in. Were
obviously delighted that NHK, Nickelodeon and industry figureheads
such as David de Rothschild, Kevin Wall and Yann Arthus-Bertrand
have chosen MipTV as a platform in order to demonstrate their
commitment to tackling these ecological issues.
MipTVs
conference programme called Audiences on the Move will
examine the latest international trends in programming, advertising
and media, online video distribution, telco-media convergence,
social networks and mobile media.
Launched
by Reed Midem in January 2007, the Going Green environmental
programme aims to develop concrete actions to promote sustainable
development at the heart of the company, and to raise awareness
of key environmental issues among their clients.
