MUMBAI: Simon Amselem has been appointed as SVP of Disney's
channel distribution Europe, the Middle East and Africa
(EMEA). He was Disney Channel France SVP and MD.
This
follows Disney's announcement last week that it would
integrate its sales teams from EMEA TV businesses including
Disney Channel, ESPN and Disney-ABC International Television
into one group, with three sub-teams: channel distribution,
programme distribution and new media.
In
a related release, Disney Channels Worldwide also announced
six key executive appointments to its team, to support
its expansion plans in Europe.
The
announcement was made by Disney EVP and MD of the integrated
division Tom Toumazis, to whom Amselem will report.
This follows the announcement earlier this week of the
future integration of Disney's channel and programme
distribution teams in EMEA.
Amselem will oversee distribution for Disney's channel
brands in the region, including Disney Channel and ESPN.
Based
in London, Amselem will start in the role from 1 April.
In his new role as SVP, he will lead the integrated
channel distribution team to maximise the revenue of
Disney's channels in the region, including brands such
as Disney Channel, Disney Cinemagic, Playhouse Disney,
Toon Disney, ESPN International, ESPN Classic, NASN,
as well as ESPN's programme sales team.
